Bucs’ Search for New Offensive Coordinator
TAMPA — There are increasing odds that the Bucs’ new offensive coordinator will have ties to the Los Angeles Rams.
Virtual Interviews Conducted
The team announced Tuesday it conducted its fifth virtual interview for the position, this time with Rams quarterbacks coach Dave Ragone.
Ragone is the third member of Rams head coach Sean McVay’s staff to interview with the Bucs. They also had virtual meetings with offensive assistant/pass game specialist Nate Scheelhaase and tight ends coach/pass game coordinator Nick Caley.
Quick Replacement Search
The Bucs have moved quickly to find a replacement for Liam Coen, who was introduced Monday as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Ragone’s Background
Ragone, a former Louisville quarterback, was a third-round pick of the Houston Texans in 2003. He also spent time as a player with the Bengals, Rams and Panthers.
He went to the Rams in 2024 after spending three seasons as the Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator under Arthur Smith.
Interviewed Candidates
The Bucs also have interviewed Chargers passing game coordinator Marcus Brady and Vikings assistant offensive coordinator/assistant quarterbacks coach Grant Udinski.
Conclusion
The Bucs are actively searching for a new offensive coordinator, with ties to the Los Angeles Rams seeming likely. The interviews with potential candidates have been ongoing, and a quick replacement is expected after Liam Coen’s departure. Ragone, with his extensive background in football, could be a strong contender for the position.
