Lightning Goaltender Jonas Johansson Shuts Out Panthers

SUNRISE — After recording his first shutout in nearly 14 months Monday, Lightning goaltender Jonas Johansson was looking forward to a late-night drive back to Tampa with his dad to start the holiday break.

A Stellar Performance

Johansson had stopped all 36 shots he faced in a 4-0 win over the reigning Stanley Cup champion Panthers, showcasing his skills against the formidable power play of the Panthers ranked third in the NHL.

Extra special for Johansson was having his father, Per-Johan, watch him play for the first time in about a year, as he made the 3½-hour drive from Tampa to Sunrise to support his son.

A Proud Father

Johansson’s father had every reason to be proud as his son delivered a standout performance, shutting out a Panthers team that had multiple scoring opportunities, including on the power play.

Consistent Excellence

Winning his past three starts, Johansson has proven to be a reliable asset for the Lightning, especially during back-to-back games in the coming weeks.

Coach’s Praise

Coach Jon Cooper commended Johansson’s ability to perform well despite limited playing time, highlighting his contributions to the team’s success.

Strong Finish

Johansson’s recent performances have showcased his ability to excel as games progress, even after allowing early goals. His confidence and teamwork have been instrumental in securing victories for the Lightning.

Looking Ahead

As the Lightning face more challenges post-holiday break, Johansson’s consistent performance will be key to their success in upcoming games against tough opponents.

Johansson’s dedication and skill have not gone unnoticed, and his father’s presence to witness his success adds an extra layer of pride and joy to his achievements.

Conclusion

Johansson’s stellar performance and consistent excellence on the ice demonstrate his value to the Lightning team. With a supportive father by his side, he continues to shine in crucial moments, contributing to the team’s success.
