The Lightning’s Tampa Bay Strong 50/50 raffle has raised more than $1 million for local hurricane relief efforts, with one lucky fan winning over half a million dollars.
Supporting the Community After Hurricanes Helene and Milton
Following the devastating hurricanes Helene and Milton in late September and early October, the Tampa Bay Lightning initiated the sale of raffle tickets at each home game and online through the Lightning app.
Supporting Local Nonprofits Affected by the Storms
The proceeds from the raffle will go towards supporting local nonprofits severely impacted by the hurricanes, including Ronald McDonald House, Team Rubicon, LiFT, Habitat for Humanity, St. Pete Free Clinic, University Area CDC, Feeding Tampa Bay, and A Kid’s Place.
Big Win for a Season-Ticket Holder
The lucky winner, who was in attendance at the final home game of the year, is also a season-ticket holder. They walked away with half of the jackpot, totaling $529,447.50.
Continued Support for Hurricane Relief
Initially donating $2 million to first responders and teachers who lost their homes during Hurricane Helene, the Lightning’s ownership group added another $1 million for five different nonprofit organizations. With the Tampa Bay Strong campaign’s funds, the Lightning has contributed over $4 million towards hurricane relief efforts.
