Another action-packed week of baseball has come and gone.
The past five days showcased the depth of talent that makes Tampa Bay a baseball stronghold, with pitching duels, offensive explosions, and defensive gems highlighting the schedule.
Tuesday rewind
Jefferson 4, Plant 3
In a game that looked like it was slipping away, the Dragons staged a dramatic seventh-inning rally to overcome a 3-0 deficit and defeat the Panthers 4-3.
Plant built their lead methodically, scoring single runs in the third, sixth, and seventh innings. Danny Cerelli led the Panthers offense, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Jefferson was held hitless through six innings by Plant starter Nick Townley, who struck out 10 batters. But when Townley was relieved in the seventh by Rhett Dixson, the Dragons’ bats awoke.
Sophomore Kaleb Cherry delivered the decisive blow, driving in all four Jefferson runs with his clutch hit. Cherry finished 2-for-3 and accounted for all of Jefferson’s hits in the contest.
Senior Ja’Marques Benton earned the win on the mound for Jefferson, allowing just two earned runs over six innings while striking out eight Panthers. Ethan Savinon worked the seventh to secure the save despite allowing a run.
The Panthers will regret missed opportunities, as they stranded 11 runners on base throughout the game. Jefferson improved its defensive play in the late innings, turning a crucial double play to escape a bases-loaded jam in the sixth.
Plant City 2, Newsome 0
In a dominant pitching performance, the Raiders shut out the Wolves.
Senior Hagan Smith was masterful on the mound for Plant City, tossing six scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out 10 Newsome batters. Freshman Alex Rodriguez closed the door with a perfect seventh inning to earn the save.
Plant City manufactured single runs in the first and third innings, providing all the offense they would need. Freshman Alex Rodriguez delivered both RBIs on his 2-for-3 day at the plate, including a double. Senior Eli Thomas scored both Raider runs after reaching base three times with a hit and two walks.
Newsome’s offense struggled throughout the contest, managing just one hit — a single by junior Ocean Cozart. The Wolves struck out 11 times against Plant City pitching and stranded several runners in scoring position.
JP Glassford took the loss for Newsome despite a solid outing, allowing two runs over three innings with four strikeouts. The Wolves’ bullpen kept them in the game as Luca Cafaro and Isaiah Sanchez combined for three scoreless innings of relief.
Plant City’s defense was flawless, turning two double plays at crucial moments to preserve the shutout. The Raiders improved their fielding percentage to 1.000 for the game while committing no errors.
Jesuit 2, Neumann 0
In a pitcher’s duel that featured stellar performances on both sides, the Tigers edged the Celtics.
Jesuit pitchers Ryan Thompson and Brady Hoar combined for the shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out 15 Neumann batters. Thompson threw 4.2 scoreless innings, striking out 11, while Hoar hurled 2.1 innings of perfect relief.
The Tigers scored single runs in the third and fifth innings to provide all the offense they would need. Senior Robby Santana drove in a run with his only hit of the day, while sophomore Samir Mohammed went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Jesuit attack.
Despite the loss, Neumann’s pitching was also impressive, limiting Jesuit to just three hits. The Celtics defense committed only two errors and kept the game close throughout.
Junior Cannon Murtagh showed patience at the plate for Jesuit, drawing two walks, while the Tigers also benefited from five free passes overall. Vincent DeCarlo anchored the defense with 16 putouts at first base.
The Tigers capitalized on timely hitting and aggressive baserunning, stealing two bases and advancing runners at critical moments in the game. Jesuit’s defense was nearly flawless, committing just one error while turning a key double play to escape a Neumann threat.
Seminole 10, Dunedin 0
In a dominant all-around performance, the Warhawks overwhelmed the Falcons.
Junior Noah Ritchie was masterful on the mound for Seminole, tossing a complete game two-hit shutout while striking out five Dunedin batters and not allowing a single walk. Ritchie needed just 55 pitches to complete his efficient outing.
The Warhawks’ offense erupted for 10 hits and took advantage of 10 Dunedin errors. Senior Mack McGinnis led the attack with a 1-for-3 day that included three RBIs and two runs scored. Junior Patrick Mazzei went 2-for-3, and JJ Baysinger reached base three times while scoring twice.
Seminole broke the game open with a five-run third inning, then added insurance runs in the fourth and fifth innings to secure the victory. The Warhawks showed patience at the plate, drawing eight walks and advancing runners with timely hitting.
Senior Jeremiah Tokar collected both hits for Dunedin, going 2-for-2 in the loss. The Falcons’ defense struggled mightily, committing 10 errors that led to several unearned runs for Seminole.
Cian Roche took the loss for Dunedin, allowing six runs (all unearned) over 2.1 innings. The Falcons used four pitchers in total, with all 10 runs being unearned due to defensive miscues.
Seminole’s defense was flawless behind Ritchie, as the Warhawks committed no errors while turning in several defensive highlights to preserve the shutout.
Indian Rocks Christian 7, Anclote 6
In a back-and-forth contest filled with momentum swings, the Eagles edged the Sharks.
Senior Hunter Maddox powered Indian Rocks Christian’s offense, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored, and an RBI. Sophomore Noah Mortellite added a 2-for-3 performance with an RBI and two runs scored, while the Eagles collected 10 hits as a team.
After falling behind 5-2 in the third inning, Indian Rocks Christian battled back and secured the victory with a crucial run in the sixth inning. The Eagles showed aggressive baserunning throughout the game, stealing seven bases, including three by Mortellite.
Anclote’s offense was led by William Dawson and Joseph Barger, who each went 2-for-4. Senior Caleb Stockwell drove in two runs with a double, while the Sharks drew seven walks and stole three bases in the loss.
Eighth-grader Parker Houghtaling earned the win for Indian Rocks Christian, allowing just one run over 3.1 innings of relief while striking out one. The Eagles’ pitching staff combined for five strikeouts while limiting Anclote to six hits.

Alonso 5, Gaither 4
In a thrilling contest that came down to the final inning, Alonso edged Gaither.
Junior Aidan Sansing paced the Ravens’ offense, going 2-for-3 with a run scored, while junior Jordan Campos added a 2-for-4 performance with an RBI. The Ravens used timely hitting to overcome being outhit 10-6, scoring the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Gaither’s David Pina had a stellar day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Sophomore Ryan Deak added a perfect 3-for-3 performance with an RBI and a run scored, while senior Angel Hernandez reached base all four times with two hits and two walks.
The game featured several lead changes, with both teams scoring in the second inning before Alonso took a 2-1 lead in the third. Gaither rallied for two runs in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead, but Alonso responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half to reclaim the advantage at 4-3. The Cowboys tied it in the top of the seventh before Alonso secured the walk-off victory.
Seth Arevalo earned the win for Alonso with a crucial strikeout in relief. Julian Batista started for the Ravens, allowing just one earned run over 4.1 innings while striking out five. The Ravens’ defense turned three double plays and threw out a runner attempting to steal.
Anthony Linares took the loss for Gaither despite the Cowboys’ offense collecting 10 hits. Adam Smolka delivered a strong start for Gaither, allowing just one run over three innings while striking out five and not allowing a hit.
Countryside 6, Palm Harbor University 3
In a game that featured a decisive late-inning rally, the Cougars defeated the Hurricanes.
PHU jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the first inning and added another in the second to take a 3-0 advantage. However, the Cougars responded with a run in the fourth inning before erupting for five runs in the sixth to seize control of the contest.
Senior Braeden Callahan led the Countryside offense, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored while also stealing a base. Senior Luke Neubauer added a 2-for-4 performance with two RBIs, and Junior Chad Paar contributed by going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
The Cougars’ aggressive baserunning proved crucial to their victory, as they stole five bases throughout the game. Senior Pierce Yosuico joined the hit parade with a 2-for-3 day that included an RBI and a stolen base.
Senior Ethan Hawkins earned the win with two perfect innings of relief, retiring all six batters he faced. Senior Cody Hollenbeck started for Countryside and battled through five innings, allowing three runs while striking out seven Hurricanes.
Palm Harbor University managed eight hits in the loss but couldn’t capitalize on their opportunities in the later innings. The Hurricanes’ defense struggled at key moments, committing eight errors that led to several unearned runs for the Cougars.
Countryside’s defense was flawless behind their pitchers, with Chad Paar anchoring the infield with eight assists. The Cougars played error-free baseball while turning a double play to snuff out a potential Palm Harbor rally.
Northside Christian 8, St. Petersburg Catholic 1
In a decisive home victory, the Mustangs beat the Barons.
Despite falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Mustangs responded with two runs in the third before breaking the game open with a six-run fifth inning. Junior Bobby Hearn led the Northside Christian offense, going 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored.
Senior Luke Anderson added a 2-for-4 performance with two doubles and two RBIs, while five other Mustangs recorded hits in the balanced attack. The Mustangs showed discipline at the plate, drawing five walks and striking out just three times.
Junior Donovan Fox earned the win on the mound for Northside Christian, allowing just one unearned run over five innings while striking out five Barons. Ronald Causby and freshman Auston Anderson combined for two perfect innings of relief, striking out three more batters to secure the victory.
Junior Alex Fabelo led the St. Petersburg Catholic offense, going 2-for-3 with a run scored and also stealing a base. Senior Aidan Heelan added the only other hit for the Barons, who struggled against the Mustangs’ pitching staff.
Sophomore Troy Burke delivered a solid outing for the Barons, allowing just two runs over four innings while striking out three. However, the St. Petersburg Catholic bullpen couldn’t contain the Mustangs in the fifth inning, when Northside Christian sent 11 batters to the plate.
The Mustangs’ defense committed two errors but made several key plays behind their pitchers, while the Barons’ three errors contributed to multiple unearned runs for Northside Christian.
Steinbrenner 5, Robinson 3
In a tight contest that saw multiple lead changes, Steinbrenner defeated Robinson.
Junior Ty Ciccarello led the Warriors’ offense with a perfect 2-for-2 day at the plate, drawing a walk and scoring a run. Seven different Steinbrenner players recorded hits in the balanced attack, with sophomore Gavin Mix driving in the team’s only RBI.
After taking a 2-0 lead in the second inning, Steinbrenner saw Robinson chip away with a run in the third and two more in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead. The Warriors responded immediately with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to reclaim the advantage at 5-3.
Junior Samuel Hyman paced the Knights’ offense, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk. Junior Cason Cooper added an RBI single, while the Knights drew seven walks but left eight runners on base.
Senior Mason Koumas earned the win for Steinbrenner with two innings of scoreless relief, striking out three while not allowing a hit. The Warriors’ pitching staff combined to limit Robinson to five hits despite issuing seven walks.
Hyman took the loss for Robinson despite a solid outing, striking out six Warriors in 4.2 innings. The Knights’ defense committed two errors that led to three unearned runs for Steinbrenner.

Through five innings, Pasco held a 2-0 lead behind the strong pitching of freshman Carson Wheatley, who allowed just three hits while striking out six Coyotes. However, Cypress Creek’s offense came alive in the sixth inning, erupting for four runs to take a 4-2 lead before adding an insurance run in the seventh.
Sophomore Deacon Turpin and junior David Macca led the Coyotes’ attack, each going 1-for-2 with an RBI. Turpin added a double and scored a run, while Macca drove in two runs. Senior Everett Burgess contributed with a double as part of Cypress Creek’s seven-hit performance.
Senior Jayce Rollins paced the Pirates’ offense, going 2-for-4 with an RBI double. Freshman Carson Wheatley added an RBI single and drew two walks, but Pasco managed just four hits total against Cypress Creek’s pitching.
Senior Colin McGee earned the win for the Coyotes, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out ten Pirates over five innings. Junior Colton Burrmann was dominant in relief, tossing two perfect innings with three strikeouts to secure the save.
Boomer Newton took the loss for Pasco, allowing three runs (one earned) in 1.1 innings of relief. The Pirates were hurt by 13 strikeouts at the plate and a critical error that contributed to Cypress Creek’s sixth-inning rally.
The Coyotes played flawless defense behind their pitchers, committing no errors while making several key plays in the late innings to preserve their lead.
Wednesday rewind
Countryside 3, Anclote 2
The Cougars secured a dramatic victory, edging out the Anclote Sharks 3-2 with a decisive run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Senior Brody Sadlowski led the Cougars’ offense, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, including the game-winner.
Countryside took an early lead with a run in the second inning, but Anclote battled back, scoring single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 2-1 advantage. The Cougars answered in the fifth to tie the game before manufacturing the winning run in their final at-bat.
Senior pitcher B. Callahan earned the complete-game victory for Countryside, allowing just four hits while striking out four batters without issuing a walk. Luke Neubauer was a perfect 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and added two stolen bases to help the Cougars’ cause.
For Anclote, Anthony Ramos turned in a strong pitching performance despite taking the loss, striking out six Countryside batters while allowing just one earned run over 6.1 innings. Paul Ramos and Jayden Ortiz each contributed doubles for the Sharks in defeat.
Carrollwood Day 4, Tampa Prep 1
Christian Clarke delivered a perfect performance at the plate Wednesday, going 4-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs to power Carrollwood Day past Tampa Prep 4-1 in a non-conference matchup.
The Patriots wasted no time establishing control, plating two runs in the first inning before adding two insurance runs in the seventh to secure the victory. Clarke’s bat proved to be the difference, as he drove in all four Carrollwood Day runs.
Charlie Cooperman earned the win on the mound for the Patriots, allowing just one run on six hits over six innings while striking out two. Matt Porta pitched a scoreless seventh inning with three strikeouts to close out the game.
Tampa Prep’s lone run came in the sixth inning when Jordan Della Rocca connected for a solo home run. Will Futch led the Terrapins’ offense, going 2-for-2 with a double and a walk, while eighth-grader Luc Thornton contributed two hits in three at-bats.
Julian Earle also had a standout performance for Carrollwood Day, collecting three hits and scoring twice.
Northeast 8, Clearwater 0
Northeast pitchers Cameron Hasson and Cooper White combined for a three-hit shutout as the Vikings blanked Clearwater.
After three scoreless innings, Northeast broke through with four runs in the fourth, then added four more in the seventh to seal the victory. Luke Guzman and Julian Seitz led the Vikings’ offense with two hits apiece, while Camrin Grimes delivered a key double and drove in two runs.
Hasson earned the win on the mound, working four innings while striking out five and allowing just two hits. White followed with three perfect innings of relief to complete the shutout.
Jackson King provided a bright spot for the Tornadoes, collecting two of Clearwater’s three hits and drawing a walk to reach base in all three plate appearances. Eduardo Alfredo-Montero had the only other hit for Clearwater and added a stolen base.
Ty Woodring took the loss for the Tornadoes despite a solid effort, allowing just two earned runs in 3⅔ innings with three strikeouts. The Vikings capitalized on Clearwater’s pitching, drawing four walks and getting hit by pitches four times to supplement their seven hits.

Calvary Christian 3, Dunedin 1
Grayson Gibson dominated on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 5â…” scoreless innings to lead Calvary Christian to a victory over Dunedin.
The Warriors broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the third inning, providing all the offense Gibson would need. Maximus Mayes delivered the decisive blow with a two-RBI hit, while Maddox Bozeman added an RBI and collected two hits in the winning effort.
Gibson allowed just three hits and one walk while earning the win, before C. Uzzillia closed out the game despite allowing an unearned run in the seventh inning. The Warriors’ pitching duo combined for 13 strikeouts against the Falcons.
Madden James led Dunedin with a near-perfect 2-for-3 day at the plate and scored the Falcons’ lone run, while Jett Matos also contributed two hits. Colton Beard took the loss despite striking out seven Warriors over 4⅔ innings.

Canterbury 1, Keswick Christian 0 (8 innings)
Gabriel Blaxberg and Lucas Blaxberg combined for a no-hitter Thursday as Canterbury edged Keswick Christian 1-0 in an extra-inning pitchers’ duel.
The elder Blaxberg was nearly untouchable, striking out 15 batters over 6â…“ innings while allowing just one walk. The eighth-grader finished the masterpiece with 2â…” perfect innings, including two strikeouts. Together, they faced just 26 batters, one over the minimum.
After seven scoreless innings, Canterbury finally broke through in the bottom of the eighth when Ian Robinson delivered the game-winning RBI to score Gabriel Blaxberg, who reached base safely three times and stole two bases in the contest.
Despite the loss, Keswick Christian received strong pitching performances from Dylan Williams and Landon Wilson, who combined to allow just five hits and strike out seven batters over seven innings. The Keswick defense committed two errors that proved costly in the tight contest.
Robinson led Canterbury’s offense with two hits in three at-bats and the game’s only RBI, while Braden Adorno and Brody Payne also contributed hits in the victory.
Weeki Wachee 2, Seven Rivers Christian 0
Jayden Allen tossed a no-hitter, striking out 11 batters to lead Weeki Wachee to a victory over Seven Rivers Christian.
The Hornets’ right-hander was nearly perfect, allowing just one walk and hitting one batter while facing only 23 hitters in the complete-game shutout. He needed just 80 pitches to dispatch the Warriors, who were unable to advance a runner past first base.
Weeki Wachee manufactured a run in the second inning to take an early lead, then added an insurance run in the sixth despite managing just one hit against Seven Rivers Christian pitcher Noah Lemar. Jacob Barnum collected the Hornets’ lone hit, while Christian Zahora and Saul Melendez each scored a run.
Lemar turned in a strong performance in defeat, striking out 10 Hornets while allowing just two hits over six innings. However, three defensive errors behind him proved costly, leading to an unearned run that gave Weeki Wachee breathing room late in the game.

Countryside capitalized on six Seminole errors to secure an extra-inning victory.
The Cougars struck first with a run in the opening inning before Seminole responded with single runs in the third and fifth to take a 2-1 lead. Countryside tied the game in the sixth and then pushed across the decisive run in the eighth inning.
Ethan Hawkins earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief for Countryside, allowing no hits while striking out two. Starter Kyle Muise worked six solid innings, surrendering just four hits and striking out four.
Luke Neubauer led the Cougars’ attack, going 2-for-2 with a walk and scoring a run, while Cody Hollenbeck added two hits and a run scored. The Countryside offense was opportunistic on the basepaths, stealing six bases including two each by Neubauer and Hollenbeck.
JJ Baysinger took the tough-luck loss for Seminole despite not allowing an earned run in three innings of relief. Patrick Mazzei, Shane Stalbird, Lincoln Dukes, and Baysinger each had hits for the Warhawks, with Mazzei and Stalbird scoring the team’s runs.
Wesley Chapel 2, Sunlake 0
Aiden Nguyen tossed a perfect game, striking out 15 batters to lead Wesley Chapel past Sunlake.
Nguyen was untouchable on the mound, facing the minimum 21 batters without allowing a baserunner and needing just 98 pitches to complete the masterpiece. The Wildcats’ right-hander recorded 15 of the 21 outs via strikeout in the dominant performance.
Zorre Wright provided all the offense Wesley Chapel would need, blasting a solo home run in the fifth inning and finishing the game 1-for-1 with a walk and a hit-by-pitch. Mills Carrillo added a hit and scored the Wildcats’ other run in the fourth inning, while also swiping two bases in the victory.
Cole Ranchel and Conner Franklin each contributed singles to the Wildcats’ attack, which managed just four hits but took advantage of two Sunlake errors to secure the win.
Cameron Nunez pitched well in defeat for the Seahawks, allowing just one hit and one unearned run over four innings while striking out four. The Wildcats were aggressive on the basepaths throughout, stealing four bases against the Sunlake defense.
Wiregrass Ranch 2, Zephyrhills 1
Chris Hong turned in a dominant pitching performance, striking out 10 batters in six innings to lead Wiregrass Ranch to a walk-off victory over Zephyrhills.
Both teams were locked in a scoreless duel until the sixth inning when each side pushed across a run. The Bulls then captured the victory with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Hong allowed just two hits and one unearned run while walking only one batter in a stellar outing. KJ Cain pitched a perfect first inning before Hong took over and then returned to earn the win with the seventh-inning rally.
Carson Kitkland led the Bulls offensively with a double and a run scored, while Julius Jessurun added a double of his own. Jorge Carrero and Cain also contributed hits to the winning effort, with the Bulls taking advantage of three Zephyrhills errors.
Kye Bunner took the tough-luck loss for the Bulldogs despite not allowing an earned run over 6⅔ innings while striking out nine. Danny Carter, Logan Flannery, and Nicholas Purcell each had hits for Zephyrhills, with Purcell driving in the team’s lone run.
River Ridge 3, Land O’ Lakes 2
Carson Cooley pitched a complete game, striking out eight batters to lead River Ridge past Land O’ Lakes.
The Royal Knights struck first with two runs in the second inning, then added what proved to be the decisive run in the fifth when Cameron Kessell blasted a solo home run. Kessell finished 2-for-3 with the homer and an RBI, leading River Ridge’s seven-hit attack.
Jack French also collected two hits and scored a run for the Royal Knights, while Jager Golden drove in two runs to support Cooley’s strong pitching performance. The right-hander scattered six hits and worked around three Land O’ Lakes base stealers to secure the victory.
Aiden Marsiglio picked up the loss for the Gators despite racking up 13 strikeouts in six innings. He allowed just one earned run as his defense committed three errors behind him. Christian Vollsteadt led the Land O’ Lakes offense with a double and a run scored, while Ethan Barclay and Yonder Alvarez each drove in a run in the losing effort.
Bishop McLaughlin Catholic 2, Berkeley Prep 1 (8 innings)
Christopher Rodriguez delivered a clutch hit in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Bishop McLaughlin Catholic to an extra-inning victory over Berkeley Prep.
The Hurricanes and Buccaneers traded runs in the third inning before the pitchers took control, leading to five scoreless frames. Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with both of his team’s RBIs, drove in Jadin Soto for the walk-off win in the eighth.
Cooper Antalek pitched seven strong innings for Bishop McLaughlin, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out eight. Tyler Pizzo earned the win with a scoreless eighth inning of relief, working around a hit to preserve the tie.
Rivers Kurland took the tough loss for Berkeley Prep despite a dominant performance, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while allowing just three hits and one run. The Buccaneers defense committed four errors that proved costly in the tight contest.
Lucas Farrar led Berkeley Prep with an RBI single, while Mason Warren and Joseph Troupe also collected hits in the losing effort. Soto and Elyvis Quezada added hits for the Hurricanes.
Sickles 5, Steinbrenner 4 (8 innings)
Sickles rallied from a three-run deficit, scoring the go-ahead run in the eighth inning to defeat Steinbrenner.
The Warriors jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning, but the Gryphons fought back with a run in the fourth and three more in the sixth to take a 4-3 lead. Steinbrenner tied the game with a run in the bottom of the sixth before Sickles pushed across the decisive run in extra innings.

The elder Blaxberg was nearly untouchable, striking out 15 batters over 6â…“ innings while allowing just one walk. The eighth-grader finished the masterpiece with 2â…” perfect innings, including two strikeouts. Together, they faced just 26 batters, one over the minimum.
After seven scoreless innings, Canterbury finally broke through in the bottom of the eighth when Ian Robinson delivered the game-winning RBI to score Gabriel Blaxberg, who reached base safely three times and stole two bases in the contest.
Despite the loss, Keswick Christian received strong pitching performances from Dylan Williams and Landon Wilson, who combined to allow just five hits and strike out seven batters over seven innings. The Keswick defense committed two errors that proved costly in the tight contest.
