Allaer started his hockey journey as a defenseman for the Tampa Junior Bulls youth hockey program. At the age of 12, he even had the opportunity to skate onto the ice as the Lightning Thunderstruck Skater Kid to pump up the crowd before games.

A Shift to Racing

Hockey was Allaer’s passion until he discovered open-wheel racing. Now 23, he will kick off his second season in the Indy NXT developmental circuit at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. During the race, he will proudly represent the Lightning on the track.

Allaer will be donning a driver suit inspired by the Lightning’s third jersey and a helmet modeled after goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy’s mask.

Despite his hockey roots, Allaer made a smooth transition to the world of open-wheel racing. Beginning with go-karts in his early days, he eventually ventured into sim racing, quickly excelling in the virtual world before making the leap to real racing. His natural talent behind the wheel led him to pursue a career in motorsports.

Success in Racing

His racing journey took him to the competitive Formula Race Promotions F1600 Championship Series and eventually to the U.K. to compete in the British Racing and Sports Car Club (BRSCC) series. This path led to an opportunity with HMD Motorsports in the Indy NXT series, showcasing his talent on the track.

Future Goals

Looking ahead, Allaer aims to achieve consistent top-five finishes with HMD Motorsports in Indy NXT. With his impressive learning curve and dedication to the sport, there is no limit to his potential in the racing world.
