Major-League Players and USF Softball Team Host Clinic for Hurricane-Impacted Kids
Former, current and future major-league players and members of the USF softball team gathered on Sunday morning to hold a clinic for over 100 boys and girls who have been impacted by the recent hurricanes.
Plant High standout Pete Alonso, a four-time All-Star currently a free agent after six seasons with the Mets, headlined the group of active players. Infield prospect Carson Williams represented the Rays, while Mets pitcher Sean Manaea and Padres pitcher Michael King also joined in.
Former big-leaguers who participated in the event included Nick Goody, Mike Maroth, Akeel Morris, Andrew Miller and Brian Tollberg.
The clinic, hosted by the Players Trust and Players Way, included instruction, motivational talks, and offensive and defensive drills for the kids who had been affected by the recent hurricanes.
